Ben’s Movie Mixtape

Tackling my favourite books, tv shows and movies episode by episode sound tracking their characters, ideas and themes through my own Spotify encouraging the listener to think about the weekly subjects in a new light whilst encouraging me, the host, to find some new tunes.

I’ve wanted to do a radio show for years, in those years I’ve watched a lot of films and read a lot of books. With the ultimate goal of becoming a published film critic. With no radio show and only the written word, these thoughts have ran around my head driving me crazy.

I have been prescribed this radio show by various medical professionals because I won’t stop talking about music that reminds me of my favourite stories. Over the course of the term I have episodes on Aftersun, Frankenstein, Trainspotting 2, Sex and The City, Nope, Memories of Murder, When Harry Met Sally and more to be decided.

The joy in art I’ve found is the way it sneaks up on you, a film to release in 3 weeks or a book sitting on my shelf silently can completely take over my head and I have no choice but to talk about it. As a result I’m leaving space to record impromptu episodes as they pop up. I’m looking forward to speaking it into existence on the air waves. See you there
